If you're into cars and you’re in Budapest on a Friday night, there’s only one place to be. Each Friday night, during the summertime, the engines start echoing across the city and the glow of aftermarket carbon builds reflect off the statues at Heroes' Square. That’s where we usually meet: no official flyer, no entrance fee. Just vibes.
Every week, people pull up in everything from tuned BMWs and Audis to rare Porsches and Lamborghinis. You might even catch the occasional Ferrari cruising through. Most of us know each other by car and license plate, not only by name.
The Line-Up and the Hangout
We usually park up in a big line — fenders nearly touching, cameras in hand. There’s always something new to check out. Someone just got a fresh wrap, someone else rebuilt their exhaust, or finally bolted on that front lip they’ve been waiting for from Darktrace Design. The conversations bounce between turbo lag, wheel specs, and who’s running what tune.
Car spotters know the drill too. You'll see them crouched on curbs with cameras in hand, snapping rolling shots or capturing cold starts that wake up half the district. Sometimes they drop by just to chat, show you the reels they made, and maybe ask you to do a quick pull.
Drive Time
After a bit of chill, the engines start up and it’s time to roll. We usually cruise together when we switch locations. There’s something about driving through the city as a group that just hits different. People watch, point, and film from the sidewalks. You get the occasional rev battle under the bridges or in the tunnels, just for the sound of it. Spoiler alert: the V12 Lambo always wins.
There’s usually a plan — or sometimes no plan at all. Maybe we head toward the Buda hills, maybe we loop around the city, or maybe we just cruise and see where the night takes us. Some nights we end up grabbing food at a gas station, other times we stop at more private locations.
The person behind it all
